So, let's start at the beginning. What are body types? A body type or somatotype, is a generalized category of body composition based on the distribution of body mass and fat. It can be influenced by genetics, diet, lifestyle and fitness level. There are three main body types: Endomorphs, Ectomorphs and Mesomorphs. 1. Endomorphs Endomorphs have stockier bone structures with larger midsection and hips with more fat distributed throughout the body. They typically gain fat fast and lose it slowly because they have naturally slow metabolism. 2. Ectomorphs Ectomorphs have more narrow shoulders and hips with respect to height and relatively smaller muscles with respect to bone length.
